Oh dear - yesterday I think I had my blonde head on! (sorry blonde haired people - just an expression!) as I turned up for a commercial casting to be informed that the casting was actually for today!!!!!!! but the lovely people at Banana Split saw me never the less...... I blame it on the fact I was up late baking the night before (very apt as it was for a baking commerical) a cake for my sons school assembly but it probably is old age kicking in LOL!
Am still waiting to hear back on a film casting that I had last week but got as mentioned in a previous post some presenting work up in Manchester in December and some commercial work for JML....Am seeing a couple of commercials airing that I have actually been up for and realising now why I didn't get them? When you see the role go to an Afro Caribbean lady or a red haired lady - I guess I shouldn't take things too personally!!!! I am a brunette people!
Off to the Studio in a bit as am holding a casting for fitting models - hopefully we will find some lovely size 12 and size 16 ladies but it really is like finding a needle in a haystack - fitting models are hard to find.. If you know of anyone who is interested in fittings then please get in touch www.gappresents.com. If we get through all the models in time we're whizzing over to Clapham to an industry event - bit of networking la la la....(Thank goodness for grandma who can babysit for those of you thinking what does she do with her son!)

Signing off some great deals for www.gapphotography.com that should go live in the next week or so - great Christmas pressies! Jinx tv in the studio tomorrow and Thursday am in town again pounding pavements and seeing a director then another casting - hopefully all done in time to rush back and pick up a very muddy 5 year old from football - talking of which cleaning football boots is beckoning :-( oh the glam! )And then Friday whizzing up to Nottingham to do some presenting-. The other half will be attending two events on Friday of which www.gapphotography.com have been asked to take the official pictures. Saturday - I will be collapsing but the studio is rammed! No rest for the wicked!
The thing about blogging is that one should be able to express oneself in whatever manner they choose, though to rant and rave about things particularly if you are your own boss is probably not deemed good PR. To be complaining about things makes you look a) hard done by b) bitter and c) unsuccessful but sometimes I really don't think this is the case!
I think I must be a little old fashioned but really I do believe that good manners cost nothing! On a day to day basis I really do not to expect to hear back from castings etc if I am not successful because that's just the way it goes and casting directors etc are far too busy.. that said I recently cast for a very well known casting director who actually did phone me up personally to thank me for attending and to inform me that I wasn't successful that time round but she would bear me in mind for other things. I was absolutely dumbfounded to receive her call but it kind of made me restore my faith in human nature a little bit. These days its all too easy to ignore emails and texts and with the 'acting/modelling industry' totally saturated with professionals and wannabees - I can see that it would take many hours of man power to reply to people personally with a yay or nay! Still there are a couple of projects recently that I have got beyond the initial casting stage and a polite yes or no or it's still currently in progess would have been nice. After all it has cost me money to get into town, it's cost me time away from other things I could have been doing, I've had childcare to juggle (yes that's my problem I know!) but I have put time and effort in trying to get a job - the same as any person might who is the job seeking market!
The same goes with people at the studio - everyone now and then we get one or two people who are guilty of the following - if you book an appointment it seems acceptable now to just not show up without even an apology or cancellation call. People really don't seem to care - it's not 'their problem'! And if it is easy to ignore texts and emails etc then surely with all this technology its just as flippin easy to send an email/text carrier pidgeon or something to communicate!
Been a while since I've been able to blog - half term hols - cant get much done with a 5 year old in tow! Plus then family birthdays and child sickness!
Anyway different things have been happening - www.gapstudioswest.co.uk is busy today - lookbook being shot for Next Q. By www.gapphotography.com see pictures and video below.
I'm still waiting on shoot dates for JML ;) and was supposed to be on a shoot today - presenting - but its been re:arranged for next week!
